As the principal architectural historian for Kautz Environmental Consultants, Inc., ZoAnn Campana offers a variety of cultural resources services for individuals, businesses, government organizations, and non-profits in Nevada.
Ms. Campana has experience in the public and private sector of historic preservation practice. She meets the Secretary of the Interior's Professional Qualification Standards (36 CFR 61) for Architectural History and History. She received her Master's Degree in Preservation Studies from Tulane University's School of Architecture. Her practicum comprised a intensive architectural survey of the 171-acre Newlands Historic District in Reno, Nevada, and her first project as an independent consultant consisted of nominating the district to the National Register of Historic Places.
Ms. Campana has worked as an architectural historian and historic preservation consultant for the Nevada State Historic Preservation Office, the City of Reno, and a variety of private entities. She additionally serves on the Board of Directors for the Historic Reno Preservation Society and Preserve Nevada and is a former commissioner for the City of Reno Historical Resources Commission. Her professional and volunteer experience have imbued her with a deep understanding of history and historic preservation in Nevada and the American West.
Ms. Campana has extensive experience conducting architectural surveys and archival research, as evidenced by the successful completion of a number of projects ranging from the study of standalone resources to that of large-scale districts. As an adjunct faculty member of the Anthropology Department at the University of Nevada, Reno, she teaches a biennial World Architecture course to upper-level undergraduate and graduate students. This diversity of experience reinforces Ms. Campana’s knowledge of historic preservation, from research and historic context development to resource identification, evaluation, and planning.
